Until the Bulls answer their shooting guard needs (or free agency ends, fruitless), each day NB will be taking a look at potential candidates to be the Bulls Nexus 6 shooting guard.
Up: Vinsanity won the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest by putting his forearm through the cylinder of the basket. Vince Carter also used to be a very exciting basketball player named Vince Carter.
Down: A shell of his former self, Air Canada is more adept at eating Pop-Tarts than starting on a championship caliber team.
Nexus 6? This is a laughable option. Vince Carter was brought to the Magic in 2009 to help put them over the top. Instead, he offered them little and has since has only gotten older and declined in ability. Vince averaged 13.5 points after getting traded to the Phoenix Suns last season. What could he possibly offer the Bulls?
Roy Batty Says: Accelerated decrepitude.
Verdict: Decrepit is what comes to mind when thinking of Vinsanity. Carter is already 34, and the Bulls should be looking for a shooting guard option not only for now, but down the road. The Bulls have a great young-ish core, why would they want to blow money on a 34 year old who has aged like moldy cheese and Carlo Rossi wine? I would rather the Bulls do nothing and bring Keith Bogans back. There is always Tracy McGrady, so there is always worse – thus not warranting the full three fingers.
