Das Boot

It is important that we do not panic, people.

Derrick Rose was spotted sporting a fashionable walking boot on Sunday. The MVP underwent an MRI yesterday, which came back negative, confirming that his left ankle is sprained. He is now listed as day-to-day (a blase European attitude, if you ask me). If you have paid any attention to this season and especially the first four games of the playoffs, then you are probably aware that without Rose, things could get ugly. How ugly? 209 minutes largely set inside a WWII German U-boat ugly. However, as he has shown all year, Da Rose is one tough cookie (he is approximately second toughest in the infants). My guess is that Rose will play, but he may show some of the same hesitation to the lane that he displayed for most of Saturday’s affair. Or maybe he will shock us all, rock the boot, and drop 40 on the Pacers. I know I have had most of my best games while being booted.

UPDATEVILLE: Derrick Rose has said, “I’m definitely playing,” when asked about his status for tomorrow night’s game. Apparently, Rose ditched his stylish walking boot for a pair of flip-flops at the Berto Center. CJ Watson added his two cents, saying, “I think he’s probably, pretty sure, 100 percent going to play.” I am very much kinda glad Watson enlightened us, definitely sort of.

UPDATEVILLE PART 2: THE RETURN OF THE UPDATEVILLE: Rose was on the court this morn, shooting free throws with an extra brace on his sprained left ankle. He said that it feels much better and was thinking he will probably give the pain-killer shot the finger… the middle. “Warm it up, Chris!” No word on whether he was wearing his warm-ups backward at time of press.
